Doris C. BakerDoris C. Baker, prolific writer and poet, was principal of the U.S. Army Elementary and Junior High Schools, Flint Kaserne, Bad Toelz, Germany, from 1950 to 1979. Her experience and relationship with members of the Special Forces commenced from their very first overseas assignment in 1953. She was born in Montana and grew up in Michigan, where she taught for several years. She holds a Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. She retired in Virginia, where she continues to live and write. Her writing has been published in Skylark, German Life Magazine, Sensations, The Poet's Domain, The Virginia Gazette, Virginia Adversaria and other publications.

Her novel The Originals was a semi-finalist in the 1998 William Faulkner Literary Competition. Out of print for two years, it's now back in action in a new edition thanks to the world of print-on-demand publishing.
